windows server 2008 rc1 with team system 2008 rtm
Just finished successfully installing WS08 RC1 with Team System 2008 RTM (both TFS and Team Suite). Coolness.
I followed the following main steps:
- Windows Server 2008 Enterprise RC1
- SQL 2005 Standard
- SQL 2005 SP2
- SharePoint 3.0 with SP1 (slipstream install)
- Team Foundation Server 2008
- Team Build
- Team Explorer
- TFS SharePoint Extensions
- Team Suite
- Office Pro 2007
- Smoke Test
Nothin to it, and I love my Team Suite w/ MSDN Premium subscription.
Some notes of things I did during the installation:
- Be sure to do a FULL install, not a CORE install of WS08. You'll see it as one of the options once you get started.
- Go ahead and change the time zone to the correct one for you.
- Change the computer name before installing SQL 2005
- I disabled UAC after installing WS08, just to simplify things. (I like to live on the security edge.)
- Turned off the IE security thingy (another attempt to live on the edge).
- When you're defining the roles for the WS08 server (app server and web server), be sure to check the IIS6 compatibility checkboxes when you get to that screen.
Again, nothin to it. (The hardest part was finding the slipstream installation of SharePoint 3.0 with SP1. It just came out and finding a pointer to it was difficult. See Mike Gannotti's blog entry here.
Have fun, and happy installing!
